Creative Clay's 2016 "Spring for the Arts" Gala
The Law Office of Ama N. Appiah was a proud sponsor of this year's Creative Clay "Spring for the Arts" Gala, held on May 5th. The gala was a huge success! Our office is grateful to the staff of Creative Clay, fellow board members, volunteers, vendors, Duncan McClellan Gallery, as well as the contributions of other sponsors, for making such a phenomenal event possible.
Sunscreen Film Festival 2016 - Latin American Films
The 11th Annual Sunscreen Film Festival was held April 28th - May 1st in St. Petersburg, FL. Some very entertaining and unique Spanish-language films were featured in this year's festival. This years winners in the Latin Films categories were: "Spare Parts" for Best Latin Film; "Resurrection of Victor Jara," for Best Latin Documentary; "Oasis," for Best Latin Short; and "Bienvenidos," for Latin Inspirational Film. Congratulations to all the award winners, as well as all the films selected from the submissions for screening at the festival.
2015 Law Fest
Success Unlimited's12th Annual Law Fest was held Saturday, October 24th, at the Pinellas Technical Education Center in St. Petersburg, FL. It provides members of the community with an opportunity to obtain free legal advice on a veriety of topics. It was a pleasure to volunteer.
Attorney Ama Appiah has become a board member of Creative Clay. Creative Clay is a non-profit organization that provides adults and children with developmental, physical, and social dsabilities opportunities to create and learn about art.
She is also a board member of Gulfcoast Legal Services, which is a non-profit that provides legal services for many low-income individuals throughout Florida.

Cultural Issues in Criminal Defense - Fourth Edition
Coming June 15, 2015, the Fourth Edition of Cultural Issues in Criminal Defense. Attorney Ama Appiah is the editor of this edition. This edition features contributions from various authors on topics affected by culture ranging from client interviewing, language interpretation in the judicial system, language proficiency and evidence, using consular services, collecting evidence abroad, immigration consequences of criminal convictions, identifying opportunities in cultural diversity, the voir dire process when picking a jury, using cultural experts in a defense case, racial profiling, digital searches by law enforcement, prosecution of cyber crimes, maritime drug laws, and even an analysis of the cultural aspects that were featured in the case of State of Florida vs. Zimmerman.
Sunscreen Film Festival 10th Anniversary

The Law Office of Ama N. Appiah has been privileged to be a member of the planning committee for the celebration of the 2nd anniversay of the Keep Saint Petersburg Local organization. The celebration is called, "Localtopia," and will feature entertainment, food, drink, and goods/service vendors from the St. Petersburg, FL area. The event will occur in the historicWilliams Park on Saturday, February 1, 2014.
UPDATE: Localtopia was an incredible success. Looking forward to this annual event.

The Law Office of Ama N. Appiah, Law Offices of Ramon Carrion, and the Feathered Serpent Gallery, invite the public to a Wine & Cheese and Silent Auction Fundraiser to benefit UnidosNow. Wednesday, November 13, 2013, from 6-8 pm, at the Feathered Serpent Gallery, 1018 Central Ave., St. Petersburg, FL.
Guest Speaker: Jeanette Ocasio, Director of Social Justice, UnidosNow. Suggested minimum donation: $10.
Cultural Issues in Criminal Defense - 4th Edition
Attorney Ama N. Appiah has agreed to be the editor of the upcoming 4th edition of the Cultural Issues in Criminal Defense legal treatise. Cultural Issues in Criminal Defense is a compilation of compelling chapters by various experts in criminal defense on how procedures or arguments can either be affected by, or designed to reflect ,cultural distinctions in defending a client.
On October 19, 2013, The Law Office of Ama N. Appiah was a sponsor of the first annual Florida LabelFest held at the Venture Compound in St. Petersburg, FL. LabeFest was a gathering of independent music labels and artists, to share music, ideas, and their love of music. Attorney Appiah also participated in a roundtable discussion on copyright and internet marketing issues.
Workshop and Roundtable Discussion
In April 2013, The Law Office of Ama N. Appiah hosted a workshop on gun violence in films as part of the Sunscreen Film Festival.
